I Remeber When …….

I admittedly am not old enough to really be uttering those words, but in today’s world it seems that my country and in some cases my own party have left me.  I look around the world around me, my city, my church, my state and my country and fail to recognize things that I once thought were normal.

Once upon a time the people in this country strived to be the best they could be.  People worked to make the best for their family and their communities.  Churches and communities took care of their own.  If someone in the church had a problem (i.e. lost job, house burned, sickness) the people in the church took care of each other.  Before medicare and medicaid people some how survived.  I am not sure how but they did it, Amazing.

Insurance has not always been available.  Once upon a time you paid for what you bought.  There was no credit bureau and you paid for medical expenses as they happened.  I am not so naive to think that those things could still be possible with the way the world is today.  But really if you have been to a hospital lately do you really expect that a Tylenol cost $10.  Insurance is part of the problem we could throw in law suits and the government.

I once believed that the enemies of our country lived outside of our borders.  I know that the “reds” were here in the 50’s but that is not the enemy we have today.  Our country is now under attack from small time dictators from 3rd world countries.  We have religious zealots who have corrupted their own religion and now have (and have had for a while) declared war on the US.  For those of you who have forgotten they have attacked our country twice already.

My biggest fear is that the leadership of our own country is setting us up to be destroyed.  Our President and the leadership of the Senate and Congress are forcing bills and laws down our throat that will eventually lead to our destruction.  The Cap and Trade bill is nothing more than a new tax to shut down our energy production as well  businesses that depend on things like oil, gas, and coal.  Basically the early projections are that gas will get to $6.00 a gallon and our home energy cost will go up 70-80%.

So as I sit here tonight I wonder what will be left of my country.  What will my kids find waiting for them in 20 years if we don’t stop the misplaced ideals and neediness of our countrymen.  People need to wake up and smell the coffee before it is to late.  Hopefully we can make a change soon, but I am afraid 2010 is not soon enough.

There is so much more I would like to say, but I feel that will have to wait for another posting.
