MP-5 Automatic Machine Gun

More weapons bans are on the way.

As we have stated before.  We love our guns here at The Conservativist.  So we fight for them.

Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy [D, NY-4], the 4th was a Republican district until 1997, has introduced bill H.R. 2401 titled the No Fly, No Buy Act of 2009.  This bill, if passed, would alter the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prevent individuals who are not allowed to board an aircraft from obtaining a weapon.

At first glance, this does not sound all that bad, but we believe this has serious complications.

We have seen many stories in the news about peaceful individuals that have been detained because their names appear on the “do not fly” list.  With so many false positives, how in the world does the government plan on effectively managing another task.   How long will it take you to purchase a hand gun?  Are you going to have to call Congressman Inglis and wait on his staff to clear your name?

Hell, accordingy to Janet Napolitano, anyone who questions the government, supports liberty rights, or veterans could be placed on the no fly list.

The fact of the matter is that the Obama administration appears to be covertly working to take away guns from the people.  Obama claimed he was not going to pursue an assault weapons ban a few weeks ago, but we beg to differ!

Be sure to call your congressman and tell them to vote no on H.R. 2401.

Social Gambling is Coming To SC, Maybe

On February 19th, we reported that Muncipal Judge Larry Duffy opined that Texas Hold ‘em was not a game of chance but skill.  That was a huge victory for individual rights here in South Carolina and now President Pro Tempore Glenn McConnell has introduced legislation that would change the 207 year old law to legalize social gambling.

S. 535 Section 1.E – Gambling in a private home where no house player, house bank, or house odds exist and where there is no house income from the operation of the game is social gambling and is an affirmative defense to the provisions of subsection (A).

S. 535 Section 1.F – A charitable, religious, fraternal or other nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income taxes pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)(8), 501(c)(10), or 501(c)(19) because it is organized and operated exclusively for charitable, religious, fraternal or nonprofit purposes may conduct or participate in a casino night fundraising event of limited duration during which wagers may be made in gambling activities

Other sponsors on this bill include: Mulvaney, Ford, Land and Knotts

Be sure to begin contacting members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and encourage them to support this bill.

All we have to say is it is about time the state quit infringing on our private lives within the walls of individuals homes.

The government should not be in the business of enforcing morals (I’m opening up a can of worms on this one) and should not intrude on the lives of people in this fashion.  If I so choose to play cards with friends in the comfort of my home, so be it.  Who am I harming?

Gun Control

I apologize for my absence over the last few days; I was spending time with my family, tending to college life, and last but not least, work.

On the other hand, I was reading the daily kos Jesus Loves Guns post. Before I go any further, maybe Mr. Earl Balboa should have worded his words differently, but it appears that the liberal left is still confused about guns. For the record, I am a Christian…I have a family…My duty is to provide and protect my family as Christ has the church. Now with all that said and all do respect to my fellow bloggers…

I do not desire to live in a socialist nation (Russia’s attempt resulting in Communism). I feel that American’s have the right to bear arms. Why can’t I own a gun to hunt with or protect my family with? I mean, look at the stats. Nations that instituted gun bans have seen an increase in crime. The UK and Australia are a few nations to do research on if you need more information. Now, lets look at guns from a logical perspective…

Lets say I own a handgun and I keep it in my house. Right now, one is still probable to burglarize my house. Yet, his fear is greater and will probably run if he knows it is possible that I have a gun in my house…and he could pay the consequences for entering. Now take away my gun by banning them such as other nations have. My burglar still has his gun and he knows that I don’t have one since the government took them away. Hey, there’s no risk…he can pop a few shots off, take control, get what he wants and then he’s out of there without a fight.

This situation in America, I can shoot him once he enters my house (other stipulations apply) and I am protected. In the UK for example, a man shot career burglars that had broken into his home and was he was sentenced to life in prison for protecting himself and his valuables. To top it off, the man had been repeatedly burglarized, and the police were of no assistance.

Just because there are a few idiots in this world…don’t take my gun. I have the right to protect my family and I might just enjoy hunting and cooking some wild game.

Politicians and Judges…Quit basing your decisions for our laws on other nations actions. We are a sovereign nation. Use our Constitution, our laws, and your gut feeling. I’m sure you don’t want your children dead because you couldn’t protect them, and I sure don’t want Paris telling me when I can go to war to defend my nation…more on this tomorrow
