The Queers Come Marching In

It appears that PRIDE (another word or symbol that has been hijacked and meaning altered) has decided to make a march on Spartanburg.

In an effort to fight for their rights, they are planning to march in Spartanburg and have a large rally at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Spartanburg on June 20th.  Fortunately for me and my family, we will be somewhere on vacation that day.

As one commenter mentioned, it will be very interesting to see if the Democratic leadership will show up at the event.

We first learned about the event after trolling the forums at goupstate.com that provided a link to the facebook group.

The word queer obviously is not the issue. As another has already pointed out this is an opinion peice Gary has the right to say just about anything he wants to say. But while we are on the subject of opinions let’s consult God’s opinion- Homosexuality produces vile unnatural lust and eventually leads to Reprobation( given over to sin by God) at which point they can never be saved-Romans chp 1. As far as free speach goes not only will we Bible believers protest but we will Preach the gospel to those who have not yet been given over to a reprobate mind, and we ARE protected bythe 1st amendment to peacably assemble on public property with out the need for a permit. God have mercy on America

    • Kurt

Yes you are allowed to protest.

But I wonder if you’d have a problem with a similar “peacable assembly” outside your church where people say the stuff you are teaching is immoral based on their beliefs. If they screamed you were going to burn for eternity as your preacher tried to give a sermon. If they started yelling passages from say… the Koran or the Uppanishads or the Veda or a wiccan book of shadows.

I’m a big fan of the golden rule. I wouldn’t want someone screaming their belief system at me… so I wouldn’t do that to anyone else. I just wonder if those that will be out there “preaching the gospel” at people who don’t want to hear it would be okay if a muslim were yelling the following verses from the Koran at them:

“God’s curse be upon the infidels!” (2:89).

“God will mock them [the unbelievers] and keep them long in sin, blundering blindly along” (2:15).

“The unbelievers among the People of the Book [Christians and Jews], and the pagans, resent that any blessing should have been sent down to you from your Lord. They shall be held up to shame in this world and sternly punished in the hereafter” (2:114).

“But the infidels who die unbelievers shall incur the curse of God, the angels, and all men. Under it they shall remain for ever; their punishment shall not be lightened, nor shall they be reprieved” (2:162).

“The only true faith in God’s sight is Islam. . . . He that denies God’s revelations should know that swift is God’s reckoning” (3:19).

You’d be okay with being subjected to that?

      • James

“I just wonder if those that will be out there “preaching the gospel” at people who don’t want to hear it”

You could also say the gay marchers will be “out there proclaiming their sexuality at people who don’t want to see it”.

        KURT ARE YOU A MUSLUM….

        • Kurt

I’m not… but would it matter if I was?

  • Jeremy Rogers

THOSE WHO ARE TRUE TO THE CAUSE OF CHRIST AND THE SOULS OF MEN THRIVE ON OPPOSITION. COME WHAT MAY WE WILL PREACH THE GOSPEL AND SOME WILL BELIEVE THE REST WILL REJECT GOD AND DIE IN THEIR SINS.

  • Joshua McElrath

Kurt – If we only “preached the Gospel” to those who want to hear it, then that really wouldnt be preaching the Gospel. The entire concept and theme of Christ’s message, Paul’s message, Peter’s message, etc. was to SPREAD the gospel. Thus, we CHRISTIANS would need people to SPREAD it to…not all of which are willing, at first, to hear. Oh but my friend, when you realize the depravity of your soul and your need of a savior, then and only then can you understand why we, Christians, have such a strong desire to SPREAD what we know to be true. And Kurt, please dont imply that the “Christian thing to do” is to do nothing. Tolerance is why we are in the mess we are in now.

Furthermore, JB, yes there is something noble about clinging to dogmatic and prejudiced ideas. My God, my Bible, and my Faith may all seem dogmatic and archaic, but at least we’re standing for something that will ensure our children healthy, stable, and CONSERVATIVE lives.

    YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN!

    • Kurt

Then you’re okay with Muslims screaming their beliefs at you?

Or do you ONLY think you should be able to preach to others and they shouldn’t have the right to return the favor.

And thanks for confirming that you don’t believe that it’s christian to be tolerant. I get something different from the bible when I read it though. Jesus never seemed real “intolerant” to me.

You have to accept that people believe different things from you. Heck, most CHRISTIANS believe different things from each other… from sprinkle vs dunk, to babtisms in general, to female preachers, to handling snakes. There are hundreds of different flavors.

The only way you can ensure your children lead healthy, stable lives is by parenting them. If you go out screaming at people who are different from you… you’re condeming them to a life of constant conflict and hatred. Your choice of course… you are the parent… but starting conflicts tends not to lead to “healthy and stable” anything.

Interestingly enough, history has heard arguments like this before…

“I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator.”

    - Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Vol. 1 Chapter 2

“Today Christians … stand at the head of [this country]… I pledge that I never will tie myself to parties who want to destroy Christianity .. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit … We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press – in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during the past … (few) years.”

    - Adolf Hitler, quoted in: The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, 1922-1939, Vol. 1 (London, Oxford University Press, 1942), pg. 871-872

“A state that once again rules in God’s name can count not only on our applause but also on enthusiastic and active cooperation from the church. With joy and thanks we see how this new state rejects blasphemy, attacks immorality, promotes discipline and order with a firm hand, demands awe before God, works to keep marriage sacred and our youth spiritually instructed, brings honor back to fathers of families, ensures that love of people and fatherland is no longer mocked, but burns in a thousand hearts. …We can only plead with our fellow worshipers to do an they can to help these new productive forces in our land reach a complete and unimpeded victory.”

    - Easter Sunday Blessing from Protestant Pastors in Bavaria, April 16, 1933

[JB's Note: The "State" referred to in this quote is Nazi Germany]

AS ALWAYS CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS ARE BEING CLASSED WITH THE FEW, THE PROUD AND THE EXTREMELY NUTTY. HITLER…. COME ON JB! HITLER WAS AS ANTI-CHRIST AS HUMANS GET. THERE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THOSE WHO WOULD USE THE NAME “CHRISTIAN” TO ADD RESPECTABILITY TO THEIR SICK, SADISTIC IDEAS. AGAIN, THE SCRIPTURES ARE THE BASE OF COMPARISON.

  • Joshua McElrath

Thank you Jeremy, I agree completely! Hitler and modern day CONSERVATIVE, God fearing, born again, Christians have nothing in common!

  • JB

Are these the “modern day CONSERVATIVE, God fearing, born again, Christians” to which you are referring, Joshua?

No, JB, not all of us stand on street corners with hateful signs insinuating that homosexuals should be hanged. I do, howerver, whole heartedly agree with the scripture on those signs. In Christ, we are a new creature. I am different from what I used to be, not because of myself or what I could do, but because Christ changed me. I speak only from personal expeirence. I could have easily, very easily, been on the other side of this debate. My life could have headed to a place where I would be defending this march. However, by the grace of God I am what I am. And now, OUT OF A HEART OF LOVE, I must stand for the truth and right. Whether it offend, hurt, or anger…homosexuality is sin.
