Tancredo Withdrawals from Campaign Trail

December 21st, 2007 · No Comments

Today, Congressman Tancredo announced his withdrawal from the Presidential Campaign.

Tom Tancredo has been the champion of illegal immigration since he entered the race in April. During his withdrawal speech, in my opinion he made a surprising endorsement…support Mitt Romney. Romney has been constantly criticized on his changing position on immigration (among other things) sine his departure as Governor of Massachusetts.

Tancredo did state that he felt the Romney was the candidate to carry on and enforce a tough illegal immigration policy. He also stated that McCain and Huckabee would not be loyal advocates of his cause. He stated my campaign has forced the issues at hand but he is not sure the are behind agreeing rhetorically.

According to resources and various sites, this endorsement surprised many Paul supporters.  It will be interesting to see what happens with the field thinning out.  Will Ron Paul be able to continue his rise to the top with fewer candidates?  Maybe he’ll get more air time in the debates.  We’ll see.
